For years before I made this painting, I had wanted to capture this scene of the Roasterie building's plane in front of the KCMO skyline. As you drive up 69/ 35 north into the city from Overland Park, it looks like the plane is taking off, soaring across the skyline. Plus airplanes are shiny and reflective and oh so fun to paint in a limited color palette like this one!
