Glowing Cityscapes Painting Workshop with Vanessa Lacy

Join Kansas City artist Vanessa Lacy in her Crossroads studio for a unique workshop dedicated to capturing the city's luminous beauty. On Sunday, November 9th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., you'll learn the secrets behind her signature glowing cityscapes.

This class is a deep dive into color theory and paint application, focusing on how to use a dynamic combination of brushstrokes and palette knife work to create light and atmosphere. Vanessa will demonstrate her process by recreating her piece, "Candied KCMO," a stunning golden hour scene.

The workshop includes:

• An artist demonstration of color mixing and paint application.

• An 11" x 14" canvas pad with a cityscape already sketched out in pencil. This allows you to skip the drawing phase and focus on the fun of color mixing and painting.

• Personalized instruction as you work on your own piece.

There will be a lunch break from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. so you can relax and explore the nearby Crossroads restaurants.

Studio Access: The Leedy Voulkos is closed on Sunday, so students can't enter through there for this class session. At 11 am I will meet you at the green door that says 2016 at the back of the wooden deck just south of the Leedy Voulkos Art Center. This door must stay locked, so if you are late, you can text Vanessa and she can come down to let you in.
