Ten 36" x 48" and one 48" x 72" paintings by Vanessa Lacy were added to Kansas University Medical Hospital's permanent collection in fall of 2017. It was an amazing blessing to Vanessa at that time as she earned this commission during her first year of full-time painting following her resignation from her 9 year elementary art teaching career.

"Chocolate Streetcar over Lemondrop Sky" was a featured painting in a show Vanessa curated at her gallery the Vanessa Lacy Gallery in the Historic Livestock Exchange Building which she owned for 5 years up until 2021. This show had a theme of "Candy" which is where it got it's poetic title. It is 48" wide and 72" long on cradeled wood panel. Vanessa loves painting in this size because of the large expressive palette knife strokes she can make, but also because this is the largest size she can transport in her minivan!
This painting is in the permanent collection of The Grieve Group in Overland Park.
Art Fairs
Vanessa participates in local Kansas City art fairs where she has successfully sold hundreds of paintings of beloved local landmarks since 2012.
Her next scheduled art fair is Westport Art Fair 2024 September 6th- 8th.
Plein Air
"Plein air" is French for "open air". Plein air painting is done outside, on site and the artist must contend with the weather, the bugs, and passersby. This photo shows Vanessa painting her winning nocturne of KC's famous JC Nichols Fountain for Brush Creek Art Walk. Painting is available in artist's collection. Kansas City has several plein air competitions and Vanessa has participated in Brush Creek Art Walk which takes place the 2nd weekend of September since 2012.
Live Painting Fundraisers
Whether its a wedding, gala fundraiser, or entertainment for your next event, Vanessa loves to do live paintings!
Featured on the left is a live painting Vanessa did for Folds of Honor's fundraising Gala. She completed the painting during the event and at the end it was auctioned off, raising thousands of dollars for the foundation benefitting military families.
Paint and Party KC
Vanessa Lacy is the owner of Paint and Party KC where she leads participants through a fun night of creative expression on canvas.
Vanessa is currently only taking groups between 20- 35 for Paint and Sip style parties. You must provide the venue and chairs, and Vanessa will provide everything else! If you have a large group that may need a team building activity, bachelorette party, or kid's birthday party, get in touch to schedule with Vanessa.
